Every Major Update coming to iPhone 16 Series

The iPhone 16 series is due for release in September 2024. As the launch approaches, many details about the upcoming iPhone lineup have been revealed, thanks to dozens of sources that have hinted at new features to expect.

The major differences between the upcoming iPhone 16 and the current iPhone 15 model could include a new camera layout, the addition of an Action button, a Capture button, a more powerful A17 Bionic chip, and an increase in RAM.

Here is every major update the iPhone 16 is expected to receive.

Apple Intelligence

Apple’s new AI platform, called Apple Intelligence, will use Siri to perform actions between apps. It will also expand the voice assistant’s capabilities to perform actions within iPhone apps on users’ behalf. This includes edit images, and move items between different apps.

Also, similar to other popular generative AI platforms, there will also be features that can the iPhone 16 write and change the tone of texts for emails and other messaging platforms.

Camera

iPhone 16 will reportedly feature a new camera layout that differs from the current iPhone 15.

The iPhone 16 will feature vertically aligned cameras instead of a diagonal arrangement of the camera lenses. The camera system will also be placed in a pill-shaped camera bump, which could eliminate the square-shaped module we are used to.

Action button

An new button is expected to replace the mute button on the iPhone 16. While this ‘Action Button‘ has been added to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, it was not been included in the standard iPhone 15 (and iPhone 15 Plus).

This customizable button acts as a shortcut to features such as Translate, Magnifier, Flashlight, Accessibility and more.

A17 Chipset and Higher RAM

An A17 Bionic chip is expected to power the iPhone 16 and is predicted to be a modified version of the A17 Pro chip from the iPhone 15 Pro models. The iPhone 16 will also have 8GB RAM, up from the 6GB in the iPhone 15.

Capture button

The upcoming iPhone 16 will have a new Capture button located at the bottom of the right side of the device. This button offers a convenient way for users to zoom in and out, which can be useful when capturing photos and videos.

Other features

Other features coming to the iPhone 16 series;

Bigger screen size: The Pro’s screen size could increase from 6.1-inch and 6.3-inch, and the Pro Max from 6.7-inch and 6.9-inch.

Improved chips: An A18 chip will power the Pro models and an A17 chip for the 16 and 16 Plus models.

Camera improvement: Improved low-light performance on the Pro main camera and the addition of 5x zoom tetraprism camera for better optical and digital zoom.
