Google tells employees to get vaccinated or face termination
Google has informed its employees that they will be required to receive the COVID-19 vaccine or lose their salaries and jobs.
Google employees were given till December 3 to submit proof that they have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
An internal memo stated that if staff are still not in compliance, by January 13, they would face a 30-day paid administrative leave and eventually have their jobs terminated.
Is this lawful?
The US government has passed an order requiring all employers with 100 or more workers to have their staff fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus by January 18, 2022. Google’s vaccination policy is one of the important steps in keeping their staff as safe as possible.
In 2020, Google made a majority of its staff work from home, allowing only a few to return to office work.
Given the fact that they’re arguably one of the biggest tech companies in the world, it is important how Google handle things internally.
Taking into consideration the new Omicron strain and that little information is known about it, currently, the best option for companies is to protect their workforce.
