The future is self-cooling phones: OnePlus 11 Concept

After using your phone for an extended period of time, you may start to notice some overheating in addition to performance issues.

A common solution to this problem is to take a break from using your phone to allow it to cool down.

Not anymore…

OnePlus has revealed a concept phone which promises to eliminate overheating.

The OnePlus 11 concept phone uses a cooling fluid system to expel the heat generated while using your phone.

The technology employed for this new feature is called Active CryoFlux. This addition not only helps with overheating but also improves the design of the phone’s rear, giving it an appealing blue hue.

How does CryoFlux work?

CryoFlux technology relies on tiny pumps located on the smartphone that help to circulate the cooling liquid via pipelines to hot parts of the phone thereby reducing the temperature of the device.

Cooling liquids have been employed in temperature regulation for PCs. And by using water it can conduct heat about 30 times faster than air cooling methods.

In 2021, Xiaomi showed off a method that reduces a phone’s temperature by creating a continuous loop of evaporation and condensation.

Now, OnePlus with CryoFlux predicts it can reduce the temperature of the device by up to 2.1℃.

This should result in improved gaming performance by up to 4 fps.

Currently, this version of OnePlus 11 exists only as a concept and is not available to buy yet.

If and when it launches, it will be a relief for many mobile users, especially gamers, who spend a lot of time on their devices.
