Asus Zenfone 10 comes with Wireless Charging, Better Performance
In a highly competitive smartphone market where most phones have a large screen, Asus is keeping the compact form factor alive.
This year’s Asus Zenfone 10 features an impressive array of features fit for the quote ‘small but mighty’.
Building upon the success of last year’s model, Asus has made notable improvements to the performance, camera, and battery life.
Design
Asus has streamlined its Zenfone lineup, offering just one device, the Zenfone 10. Unlike other manufacturers that present numerous variants, Asus has focused on delivering a compact phone that is fit easily in your pocket yet is equipped with cutting-edge specifications.
The Zenfone 10 features a side-mounted fingerprint reader which doubles as a power button and a handy tool for gestures such as scrolling a webpage – something Asus calls ZenTouch.
Using ‘ZenTouch’ transforms the power key into a smart button optimized for one-hand operation -allows you to access notifications and media playback with just a few swipes.
With a weight of 172 grams, the Zenfone 10 maintains a sleek and lightweight profile. The aluminium frame and plastic back, offer a unique aesthetic for the device. The Zenfone 10 will be available in black, grey, green, blue and red colours.
Display
The Zenfone 10 features a 5.92-inch AMOLED screen with a 1080p resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate.
Despite its smaller size, the display offers sharp visuals with a pixel density of 445ppi. The screen provides excellent contrast and supports HDR10+, allowing for an immersive viewing experience.
Additionally, the screen offers ample brightness, with a maximum of 1100 nits.
Gorilla Glass Victus on the front also ensures a decent amount of protection from scratches and accidental drops.
Camera
One of the standout features of the Zenfone 10 is its dual-camera system. The device features a new 50MP main camera equipped with six-axis gimbal stabilization.
Additionally, there is a 13MP ultra-wide camera. The gimbal stabilization technology effectively corrects camera shakes, providing improved image stabilization compared to traditional optical image stabilization (OIS) systems.
With the Zenfone 10, you benefit from three degrees of correction angle, as opposed to the single degree offered by most OIS systems. For the everyday person, this means you can walk or run while recording a video and have stable footage free from agitation.
The Zenfone 10 allows video recording with support for resolutions of up to 8K at 24 frames per second.
The 32MP front-facing camera of the Zenfone 10 captures impressive selfies. The front camera is capable of recording videos in 1080p@30fps resolution.
Performance
The Zenfone 10 is equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 flagship chipset. This chipset offers improved performance compared to the previous model and even outperforms some flagship phones in benchmark scores.
Storage
The Zenfone 10’s storage options include 128, 256 and 512GB variants, which are not expandable via a microSD card. For RAM, you can choose between either an 8GB or 16GB option.
Software
Asus’s ZenUI 10, based on Android 13, powers the Zenfone 10. The interface offers a lightweight skin with minimal bloatware.
Asus has included some custom functionality, such as a side panel for shortcuts. Gamers will appreciate the Game Genie, which offers game-related features chief of which is the 144Hz available for compatible games.
Asus promises updates for two major Android versions and four years of security updates.
Battery
The Zenfone 10 boasts a large 4300mAh battery capacity with support for 30W charging. This year’s Zenfone has support for wireless charging – a feature absent on the Zenfone 9.
The Zenfone 10 continues the tradition of catering to those seeking a pocket-friendly flagship smartphone in the swarm of large screens.
