I guess I’m not the only one seeing Glovo bikes everywhere in Accra (literally).
Before Glovo, there were a number of food delivery services in Ghana – Jumia Food, Homechow, Uber Eats and Bolt Food.
The food delivery business is a thriving one and Glovo seems to want more of it.
Glovo has announced its intention to invest 3.5million euros in operations within Ghana over the next 12 months.
Glovo entered the Ghanaian market in March of 2021, and less than a year down the line, the Spanish company is operating all over Accra.
The general manager of Glovo Ghana, Pearlyn Budu, also announced the company’s goal to expand to Ashanti region in November.
We plan to cover three regions within the year and we’ll definitely expand to Kumasi and Takoradi as soon as possible.
Pearlyn Budu, General Manager of Glovo Ghana
Glovo is currently in over 15 countries including Ghana, Kenya, Côte D’Ivoire and Nigeria.
Top restaurants in Ghana, like Burger King and Pizza Inn are currently on the Glovo app. Some ‘local’ food joints, pharmacies and grocery stores are on as well. Glovo also offers employment opportunities for riders to earn some money.
All indicators point to a bright future for Glovo and its invasion into the African food market.
