How To Post on Instagram Using Your PC

You can do a lot with Instagram from your PC, but IG doesn’t allow you to post directly from your desktop/PC.

Thankfully, there’s a way around this. That’s where I come in (*cinematic entrance music*)
There are 2 main ways to go about this;

  1. Using Your Browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari)
  2. Using Third-Party Tools/Software

Following through with the steps in this post, you can post your photos and videos to Instagram from your computer.

Upload from Your Desktop Browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari)

This is a simple and quick way to upload photos, by using a few shortcuts, from your computer (works both on Windows & Mac). You’d be viewing your Instagram in a mobile format via your browser.

1. Right-click and select ‘Inspect/Inspect Element‘ or Crtl+Shift+I
Make sure to highlight the Icon as shown.
2. Click on the drop-down and select the phone type/model of your choice
3. This will change the view of the browser to a mobile screen. The Upload button will appear. If it does not appear, refresh the page
4. Upload your photo and share

Limitations

You cannot:

  • Post videos and carousels
  • Add filters to your photo (depends on your browser) and
  • Tag others

For Safari users

Enable the ‘Develop’ Option; Safari > Preferences > Advanced > enable the option ‘Show Develop menu in menu bar’.

Click on; Develop > User Agent > Select the phone type/model of your choice.

Third-Party Tools

Third-party tools and software such as – Bluestacks, Deskgram, Later, Buffer and Instagram Creative Studio (for Business/Creator Accounts) allow you to post on Instagram via your PC.  Check them out.
