Meta is launching a Facebook feature that scans the photos on your phone, regardless of whether you’ve posted them.

When enabled, Facebook’s AI scans photos stored in your phone’s camera roll to provide AI-based suggestions for photos, collages and albums.

According to Meta’s AI Terms of Service, the feature can analyze facial features, dates and locations from images, people and objects in your photos.

Turn off Camera Roll Scanning

To turn off this feature, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Facebook app
  2. Tap the Menu on the to right
  3. Select Settings & Privacy then Settings
  4. Scroll to the Preferences
  5. Tap Camera roll sharing suggestions.
  6. Scroll to find: “Get camera roll suggestions when browsing Facebook” and “Get creative ideas made for you by allowing camera roll cloud processing
  7. If turn on, tap to switch them off.
