Messenger Rooms feature is being rolled out for WhatsApp users

An article I published last month pointed to a possible Messenger Rooms shortcut in WhatsApp. Read it [here]

These rumours seem to hold a lot of water now that WhatsApp beta has this feature.

A report from WABetaInfo indicates that Messenger Rooms support for both Android and iOS will be available to users in the coming weeks.

WhatsApp is gradually rolling out this feature for some countries and userbase but it is not known when there will be a general release of the feature.

With this function, WhatsApp users will be able to host and join video rooms and communicate with friends, family and coworkers right from the app.

Video conferencing apps are important, now more than ever, for communication since face-to-face interactions have decreased in the past weeks following measures by various governments to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
