In 2019, MTN introduced the MyMTN app, a breath of fresh air for many subscribers who preferred the app over navigating through USSD menus.
The app made it easier to manage your account, check your data and airtime balances, purchase data plans for yourself and others, and access MTN’s Mobile Money service.
However, the app was not perfect and just like any app it had its flaws. One notable issue was that some users couldn’t access the app after depleting their data bundle, even though the MyMTN app didn’t require an active data connection. On occasion the app needed to be reopened multiple times in order to use smoothly.
Just recently, MTN has released an updated version of the app called MyMTN 2.0, and in this post, we’ll take a closer look at the improvements it brings.
Home Menu
The MyMTN 2.0 app has undergone a significant facelift, with the home menu sporting a more refreshing look.
Information is organized in a grid format, making it easy to view your remaining airtime, voice minutes, SMS, and data bundles at a glance.
Quick Access
Directly under the home grid, you’ll find the Quick Access tab. This tab offers a range of options, including purchasing data bundles, sending Mobile Money (MoMo), subscribing to mashup packages, reviewing your airtime history, and more.
What’s particularly exciting is that the balances and quick access section is customizable, allowing you to reorder the options based on your preferences.
Just4U
The “Just4U” tab, which previously had its own section, is now located under the home menu. This is where you can explore personalized offers and promotions tailored to you.
MTN Pulse Offers
A section for MTN Pulse also exists where, you’ll find exclusive offers and promotions. This makes it easier for Pulse subscribers to stay in the loop with their unique benefits like discount coupons and Trivia.
Shop
The shop section is the hub for all your purchases. Here, you can buy airtime, and data, and even explore MTN caller tune packages. This centralized experience simplifies the process of buying a package.
Mobile Money (MoMo)
The Mobile Money (MoMo) tab is dedicated to basic MoMo-related functions. From sending money to allowing cashouts and accessing bank services, it’s all conveniently grouped in this tab.

Under the “More” tab, you’ll find even more customization options. You can now set your homepage background with an image of your choice, giving your app a personalized touch.
Additionally, you can request eSIM activation for your device through this tab.
