Samsung released the Galaxy S22 series on Feb 9. I have a review of the S22 and S22+. However, the S22 Ultra needed a separate post mainly because the Ultra is different in design from the S22 and S22+.
Also, it looks a lot like the Note series, some may even say it’s the perfect hybrid between the S Series and the Note.

For starters, the S22 Ultra is one heck of a smartphone. 108-megapixel camera, S-Pen and 100x optical zoom are just a few of the features on this device.
Let’s dive deeper into the specs of this beauty.
S22 Ultra Design
As compared to the other two, the Ultra has a different design. It is more squared and has the largest screen of the 3 models. (6.8-inch).
It has an IP68 dust and water-resistant screen, plus the ever durable Gorilla Glass Victus+ protecting the screen. and the back. That said, if you drop your phone quite a lot, you should get a protecting case.

Another thing to note is the lack of the camera bump that we saw with the S22 Ultra.
Currently, there are four colours to choose from; Phantom Black, Phantom White Green and Burgundy.
Battery
The S22 Ultra phone packs a 5,000mAh battery fit for a flagship of its kind. The device also supports 45W fast charging and 15W wireless charging.
Processor & Software
Just like the S22 and S22+, the S22 Ultra will either come with Exynos 2200 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 based on region.
For software, the device will run on One UI 4.1 by way of Android 12.
With One UI 4.1, you can customize app icons to match your background image.
S Pen

I love the S pen and given what I do – a lot of writing, it’s perfect.
Given that Samsung has officially ended the ‘Note’ brand, the S22 Ultra is the closest we’ll get to it.
If you’re a Note user who has been holding out for a new Note, Relax! The Galaxy S22 Ultra steps in as the perfect successor.
The S Pen supports Note writing, Smart Select, Screenwrite, and translating.
Camera
Samsung has a lot to brag about when it comes to this camera.
- The AI Stereo Depth Map utilises software-derived mapping to blur your background without affecting the object or person in focus.
- The Expert Raw camera app gives you further control over various photography parameters such as HDR function.
- Another is automatic frame detection which will capture the best photos or videos by detecting faces in your frame and automatically adjusting the focus.
Nightography
Low-light conditions? No problem. The S22 takes crisp night shots with as little noise as possible.
Storage
- 8GB RAM / 128GB storage capacity
- 12GB RAM / 256GB, 512GB, 1TB storage capacity
Pricing
S22 Ultra with 256GB storage will retail for about GHS 9,900, while the 512GB model will sell for GHS 10,500.
Conclusion
While you’d expect high-end features from a flagship, the S22 Ultra is still impressive.
It’s got excellent cameras for taking portrait photos or using the rear quad camera.
You can also get artistic with the S Pen. On top of that, it comes with a sleek design and the largest screen real estate of the trio.
In the end, all these features are worth forking out a couple of thousands of cedis for.
