The Tecno Camon 18 Android 12 update users have been waiting for is here, finally. The update will bring several new features and improvements to the series, including a UI upgrades, and more.
The Tecno Camon 18 series was released in 2021. At launch, the were three variants of the device: Camon 18, 18P, and 18 Premier.
The Camon 18 came with Android 11-based HiOS 8 right from the box.
While Tecno is fairly popular in Ghana, their devices are not too popular regarding software updates.

Many users may be ‘lucky’ to get one upgrade, let alone two.
That looked like the fate for the Camon 18 until a few days ago when my unit got the Android 12 update.
Android 12 was publicly released on October 2021 and most flagship and midrange phones released that year had the update a few months after.
That said, it took a full year for the Camon 18 to receive this update.
That’s better than nothing if you ask me.
This year’s Camon 19 had Android 12 pre-installed. Based on ‘tech math’ Camon 19 users may get Android 13 support somewhere in the second half of 2023.
Tecno’s budget-friendly phones may be compromising on software continuity, however, aside from that, the device is solid all-round.
Nothing fancy! These phones are focused on getting the job done.
When is the update due?
At the time of writing, many Tecno Camon 18 devices have started receiving the Android 12 (HiOS 8.6) update.
The update has a size of about 4GB.

Tecno has hinted at updating these devices to Android 12.

Devices to get Android 13
Tecno through a blog post announced that the Camon 19 Pro (5G) will be eligible for the Android 13 Beta Program.
Currently, there’s been no word on when the stable update will be released, however, it will only be a matter of time until it arrives for Tecno devices.
You might want to keep your hopes down for the Camon 18 series receiving the Android 13 update. But who knows? Tecno might surprise us.

I have camon 18p and i couldn’t update it says”your phone is up to dated so how could you update alone
The update should be on its way.
The truth is disappointing, I used another brand and I switched to techno and the truth is that their updates are not important, the only thing they update is the launcher

Well some Android 12 features can be seen on Tecno devices, however they are lacking in other aspects.
