Tecno Unveils Pova 5 Series Smartphones

Tecno has been busy this year with its releases – launching the V Fold, Phantom X2, Camon 20, Spark 10 and Pop 7.

On top of that, the Transsion subsidiary keeps on giving with the release of the gaming-centric Tecno Pova 5 Series.

The Tecno Pova 5 series features two variants – the Pova 5 and Pova 5 Pro which is made with the everyday mobile gamer in mind.

Both variants have a 6.8-inch IPS LCD with 120Hz refresh rate which is large enough to enjoy your favourite game titles on.

With regards to the design, both have a glass front and plastic material for the frame and back of the devices.
The Pova 5 Pro, however, has an LED interface at the rear, which Tecno calls the Arc Interface.
The Arc Interface is made up of LED strips positioned at the back of the device, these strips can display various colours and have functions for different scenarios.

For example, the LED displays a red hue when the battery is below 20% and blinks in the event you receive a call, message or other notification.

For performance, the Pova 5 relies on the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, while the Pro variant features the MediaTek Dimensity 6080 SoC which is well-optimized for gaming on a budget smartphone.

Both Pova 5 variants feature a 50MP main lens and a 0.08MP depth sensor. The cameras should provide vibrant results in good lighting, but they may struggle in low-light conditions, providing satisfactory images.

A 6,000mAh battery powers the Pova 5 which can be charged to 50% in under 25 minutes thanks to its 45W charger available in the box. For the Pova 5 Pro, a 5,000mAh battery with 68W charging will serve gamers and everyday users well with long battery life.

Tecno incorporates Bypass Charge, a feature that will ensure the longevity of the battery on the Pova 5 Series.

This feature allows the device to power itself directly via the motherboard going past the battery. The benefits are that the battery does not generate too much heat when charged for long hours

You can expect these devices to run on the latest Android 13-based HiOS 13 out of the box.

Colour options for the Tecno Pova 5 Pro are just as exciting as its design, with Dark Illusion and Silver Fantasy available to choose from.

Also, you’d get 8GB RAM with 128GB or 256GB of storage which can be expanded via a microSD card.

Tecno Pova 5 and 5 Pro will make their debut in select markets including India and parts of Asia, fingers crossed for its availability in Africa.
