How to transfer files via Quick Share

Sending large files between phones can sometimes be a painstaking process. There’s often the need to resort to third-party apps, Bluetooth, cloud services or USB cables.

For Apple users, this isn’t a problem since the Airdrop feature works like magic when transferring files from one device to another.

Well, Samsung Galaxy users have a similar feature they can take advantage of to send and receive files.

Samsung Galaxy devices use an in-built feature known as Quick Share which allows you to send and receive large amounts of data without having to use a third-party app.

As explained earlier, Quick Share is Samsung’s version of Airdrop.

Quick Share uses Bluetooth and WiFi technology to share files (photos, music, pdf and more) among up to five nearby Samsung phones at the same time.

How to enable Quick Share

To begin you would have to enable Quick Share on your Samsung Galaxy device.

• Go to Settings
• Then tap on Advanced features
• Turn the Quick Share, and turn on Receive files

Under this setting, you can adjust your phone’s display name and restrict who can send you files.

Another way to enable Quick Share is to swipe down to reveal the notification panel and turn on the Quick Share button from there.

Sending files via Quick Share

For sharing to be successful, make sure that both Samsung devices have Quick Share turned on.

• Open the file you want to send
• Tap the share icon
• Select Quick Share from the options
• On the sender’s device, select the receiver.
• The receiver will receive a pop-up where they can accept the files.
