For years now, MTN has been the leading telecom provider in Ghana by a long shot.
Data from the NCA (National Communications Authority) states that over 70% of mobile data, subscriptions are provided by MTN.
AirtelTigo takes second place with about 16% of mobile data. The rest of the portions are divided between Vodafone and Glo.
What is now good business for MTN, may create an unhealthy telecom market for other companies, both existing and prospective.
Zone Bundle Suspension
The Zone Bundle package was one of MTN’s most patronized services due to the low cost and high data it gave to users. Not many other telecoms offer such low one-time rates.
According to the statement published by MTN, a directive demands that they do not have the lowest-priced packages in the market.
This is likely to allow competitors a chance to gain some advantage.
MTN Zone Bundle Return
Maybe.
As of yet, MTN has not announced a date for when Zone Bundle will return.
Based on the reason for its suspension, it’s fair to say that even when Zone Bundle is restored, the prices are likely to go up.
Next Steps
With the suspension of MTN’s Zone Bundle, you can find some affordable data packages via MTN’s Just4U service on *141#.
