Here’s what to expect from Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked

Mark your calendars, because Samsung’s Unpacked event is scheduled to take place on July 26th. Two new folding phones, a watch and a tablet are expected to be unveiled at the event.

Let’s dive into all the details and what you can expect from the event.

Foldable Phones

Let’s begin with the stars of the show – Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5.

Z Flip 5

The front display of the Z Flip 5 is expected to be larger (3.4 inches) offering an improved user experience and better functionality. Additionally, its internal display is a 6.7 inches AMOLED panel, ensuring a vibrant visual experience. Users may have four colour options to choose from black, green, and purple.

Z Fold 5

Moving on to the Galaxy Fold 5, its design closely resembles the Fold 4, with no minimal revamps based on unofficial reports.

The Fold 5 boasts a remarkable 6.2 inches AMOLED outer display with a 120Hz refresh rate, while the inner display is 7.6 inches, also with a 120Hz refresh rate.

However, Samsung has introduced a new gapless hinge, allowing the Fold 5 to close flatter than its predecessor, reducing the prominence of the crease. The available colour variants include black, cream, and blue.

Rumoured Specifications

When it comes to performance, the Galaxy Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 pack the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. The Z Flip 5 is expected to offer two RAM options – 8GB and 12GB while the Fold 5 will have only a 12GB model.

The camera setup remains largely unchanged. The Z Flip 5 will maintain a dual 12MP setup, while the Z Fold 5 will feature a triple camera module (50MP/12MP/10MP).

For battery capacity, although not officially confirmed, rumours suggest the Flip might come with a 3700mAh battery, while the Z Fold 5 will have a 4400mAh battery.

Preorder

You can pre-order the Z Flip 5 and the Z Fold 5 on Samsung’s website, allowing you to be among the first people to get these smartphones.

Additionally, Samsung is offering a $50 credit to sweeten the deal when you preorder.

Pricing

Recent reports suggest that the price for the Z Flip 5 will be $1,099. On the other hand, the Galaxy Fold 5 is expected to cost $1799.

Keep in mind that prices are not official and may differ from those at launch.

In addition to the foldables, the Galaxy Watch 6 and Tab S9 are expected to appear at launch.
