Ten new features are being added to WhatsApp. These changes will make things smoother, smarter, and more useful.

  • See Who’s Online in Groups: You’ll now see an online indicator below the group name, showing which members are currently active in the group chat.
  • Create events in group chat: You can now create events directly in private chats — complete with RSVP options for attendance, and even pinning the event to the chat for quick access.
  • Improved Reactions: Tap on a previous reaction to react with the same emoji instead of scrolling through the emoji menu.
  • Scan & Send Docs (iOS): On iPhones, you can scan, crop and save documents right from within the app.
  • Pinch to Zoom in Video Calls (iOS): iOS users can now pinch to zoom during video calls.
  • Add People Mid-Call: Add people to a call without hanging up.
  • HD Video Calls: WhatsApp’s has improved video call quality to include HD when your network connection allows for it.
  • 60-Second Video Posts for Channels: Channel admins can record and share 60-second video clips with their followers.
  • Voice Message Transcripts for Channels: Channels now support voice message transcripts.
  • QR Codes for Channels: Admins can now generate QR codes that link directly to their channel.
